Christmas
We, along with grandchildren, had hoped for white Christmas--but not 12" of "white"! Anyway, it is beautiful and it is IOWA.
Being snowbound for day or so has afforded time to reflect on past Christmas's with children, grandchildren, parents and grandparents. While reminiscing I recalled a letter from my mother to Santa written 92 Christmas's ago. I found the letter and wanted to share with you.

That is the dearest letter to Santa; especially love the paper that she used.

ReplyDeleteHow lucky are you to have a letter your mother wrote to Santa! It's amazing to read how children back then asked for the simplest of things... and I love how she wrote at the bottom, "go to," and then her address! A keepsake forever! Hi there Carolyn,
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by dear.
I enjoyed seeing the pics of your grandchildren. May angels watch over them as they continue to grow.
Funny…I was thinking of days of pen pals and your mother's letter to Santa Claus reminded me of that time (era may date me).
Have a blessed Christmas,
Hugs,
Jackie

Dear Carolyn
ReplyDeleteHow delightful your blog is. Thank you for posting these wonderful images of your dear Mother and her Santa letter, they are real treasures. I particularly enjoyed reading the letter - how times have changed! While you awoke to snow we here had a heatwave! Not so on Christmas Day, thankfully it cooled down enough to enjoy a traditional Christmas dinner. Your table of Grandchildren looks a happy one and reminds me of childhood days helping my Mother stir the pudding, cut out shortbreads etc...
Warm Regards Robbie
PS Thank you for your visit to my blog!
